Parents of youngsters at a city school were called to collect their children early today. just hours before an enforced shut down was due to start.

Classrooms at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Primary School In Farringdon Lane, are being deep cleaned before it opens for vulnerable children and those from key worker families next week.

Headteacher Kelly Hannah said: "We had to close two of our classrooms on advice from Public Health England, purely as a precautionary measure.

"It is important that we all do what we can to reduce the possible spread of coronavirus."

She added: "Along with other schools around the country, many pupils will not be in next week so this will help the situation.

"A deep clean will be carried out before those classrooms are back in use."
