The Telegraph’s new league table has ranked state secondary schools across England based on 10 separate criteria.
Using the latest data for the 2024/25 academic year, each schools was given a score of up to 40 based on these 10 factors:
- English Baccalaureate scores (5 points)
- Attainment 8 scores (5 points)
- Progress 8 score (5 points)
- Disadvantaged pupils score (4 points)
- Comparison with local authority (4 points)
- Pupil destinations (5 points)
- Entries options (3 points)
- Oversubscribed schools (3 points)
- Class size (3 points)
- Truancy (3 points)
Nearly 3,500 secondary schools were featured in the league table, with only five receiving the full 40 points.
No Preston, Chorley or South Ribble secondary school featured in the top 100 and past that, an official rank was not given by The Telegraph, but we have ordered the schools based on their rating and score.
When schools had the same score, they were ordered alphabetically.
It is worth noting that Christ the King Catholic High School, Walton-le-Dale High School and Wellfield Academy do not feature as The Telegraph says no data is available.
