Fulwood schools top gym contests

High-kicking youngsters from Preston's primary schools have been showing off their agility.

Balancing on the bar and working the pommel were among the skills on show when pupils from 22 teams took part in the under-nines gymnastics event at the City of Preston Gymnastics and Performance Centre.

The girls and boys had a chance to demonstrate their talent in vault and perform floor routines with the goal of a clutch of medals on offer

A clean sweep of medals went to Fulwood schools with Harris Primary School taking the gold medals with Queen’s Drive got silver and in bronze medal position went St Clare’s Catholic Primary.

Dean Brandwood, director of Sport, DB Sports, said “ The City of Preston Gymnastics Club did a fantastic job in the organisation of the event and there were some great performances from the young gymnasts”.

The year one and two pupils will hoping to snatch victory when they compete in June.
