Free books have school's new starters buzzing

They have all been provided with free books as part of the Bookbuzz scheme.

The Chorley school buys a book for each new starter and pupils were given the chance to choose their own free book from a selection of 14 popular titles.

Holy Cross boasts a new £75,000 library built around two years ago and stocked with a host of upt to the minute fact and fiction books of every genre.

The library also has lots of comfy seating twice the amount of computers as before the refurb - tables to sit 30, for quiet work, lessons and meetings.

The project also ties in with the school’s Accelerated Reader Scheme as all the books have quizzes .

The idea is that the youngsters can read their book, do a quiz and then swap with a friend.

Accelerated Reading is one of the school’s prize projects and was introduced two years ago and the library now has areas dedicated to books with an AR level so students know exactly where to look.
