The young delegates heard from Lancaster MP by Cat Smith about her journey “From Fairtrade to Politics”.

During the day the pupils took part in a variety of workshop sessions hosted by different groups and at the end of the event, they draw up action plans for their own schools to adopt.

Margaret Rand, from Fairtrade Lancashire and one of the organisers, said: “We hope that the young enthusiastic ambassadors who attended the conference will return to their schools and inspire others to take action to make trade fairer.

“With Fairtrade we all have the power to challenge exploitation and change the world every day by the simple choices
we make while shopping.”
