Croston school sends children home after three confirmed cases of Covid-19

A number of staff and students from a school in Croston have been told to self-isolate following three confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy in Highfield Road has confirmed one pupil has tested positive for Covid-19 within the Year 8, Year 9 and Year 11 "bubbles" - three students in total.

Students and staff who have been in very close and prolonged proximity to the pupils have now been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

In a letter sent out to parents, Head Teacher Paul Cowley said affected students will be able to access learning from home.

"We appreciate fully that this will have come as very unpleasant news to all of the students and families involved, but we will do our utmost to support them at this time," he added.

"We are in unprecedented times and there is much anxiety within our community. Nothing is of greater importance than the health and safety of our students and as you will have seen from our response this week, we respond quickly and decisively to support them."
