Brilliance shines through at Holy Cross

Celebrations were top of the timetable at Holy Cross Catholic High School in Chorley.

Headteacher Ivan Gaughan said: “This has been an incredibly stressful and uncertain time for Year 11 across the county. I am delighted that our pupils have got the results they deserve.”

The Miles Standish Way school saw some “brilliant individual performances.”:

A group of 30 pupils got at least one Grade 9 and 11 pupils got five or more Grade 9s.

Mr Gaughan said that overall our results followed previous patterns and haem increased year on year.

He added : “The most impressive thing about this year group is the resilience they have shown in very confusing and difficult times and the love and support they have shown towards each other.

“I am really proud of them and I know they will move forward with their lives and achieve their potential.

Head boy Nathan Ormerod is flying high with his grades - he hopes to fulfil a life-long dream of becoming a pilot. He celebrated five grade 9s, three grade 8s and two 7s.and said: “There were more 9s than I expected.

“I want to go to Newman College then maybe Leeds University to do a flight degree.

“It’s about managing aircraft and the principles of flight. I have always wanted to be a pilot since I was young."
