A fun music clip put together by staff at a Blackpool school has had hundreds of hits and is being constantly re-tweeted on social media.

It was the brainchild of staff at Park Community Academy, which caters for pupils aged from two to 19 with a variety of special educational needs.

The idea grew out of a discussion among teachers and staff talking about how much they were missing their pupils

KSI teacher Daisy Barlow said children at PCA love music, singing and signing so she hit on the idea of the musical video.

Daisy regularly writes music for her young charges and decided to take things further and roped in her colleagues.

She said: “ What better way than to create a music video with all of the staff, to reach out to our pupils to let them know we are missing them.

“We also wanted a fun way to show all of the ways that our pupils could be keeping busy, whilst also reminding families to stay home to keep safe. “ home

“We want the music video to reach more viewers as it has a good message for all children learning at home. “

Daisy added that staff jumped at the chance to film themselves at home and the video is packed with ideas to stay busy as well as reminding pupils to wash their hands regularly and to stay at home.

She said: “The song is incredibly catchy and aims to reassure children from all different schools that ‘We miss school and that’s okay, we’ll keep ourselves busy while we are away’.

We’ve had a fantastic response on twitter. We’ve also had comments from parents.”

The song is an original written by Daisy. She often writes original and personal songs for the children and plays guitar “as it’s a great way to engage them in their learning in a fun and exciting way.”

Headteacher at the Whitegate Drive school, Keith Berry, recently won a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award from the National Teaching Awards earlier this year.

Mr Berry got involved by filming himself and two other teachers playing a football game called ‘Walley’ where they took it in turns to kick the ball up against a wall.
