New Lancashire development is the UK's first anti-mould supported housing project
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
Developed in response to local authority and housing association needs, the property incorporates several innovative features aimed at improving tenant health and reducing energy costs. Most notably, this is the first supported living build in the UK to incorporate groundbreaking infrared wallpaper technology, which is 400% more efficient to run than a typical gas boiler and comes with a 15-year guarantee. Additionally, the development includes solar panels, battery storage, and a heat exchange pump, all working in tandem to create an ultra-efficient, sustainable home. These features present significant savings to the vulnerable tenants, the Housing Association, and ultimately, public funds. The property has achieved an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of B, far surpassing the target set for social housing providers to attain a C rating by 2035 as part of the wider ambition to meet the 'net-zero-carbon' challenge by 2050. This achievement underscores the project's commitment to carbon reduction and energy efficiency.
Investment in sustainable housing
The project represents a significant investment in the supported housing sector. The investment reflects Blueprint's commitment to developing high-quality, sustainable housing solutions that prioritise tenant health and well-being. These homes are built with the future in mind, designed to meet and exceed current standards as regulations on energy efficiency continue to tighten.

Hide AdConnor O'Rourke, director at Blueprint Housing and Investments, commented on the project: “We're incredibly proud to unveil this supported housing development. By integrating renewable technologies and focusing on creating a mould-proof environment, we are addressing the needs of vulnerable tenants while setting new standards in the supported housing sector. Ultimately, it demonstrates our commitment to sustainable, healthy living and our dedication to improving the lives of those we serve.”
Collaboration with Ready4Home
This project marks the first collaboration between Blueprint and Ready4Home Housing Support CIC, a housing association founded in 2020 that works across the Northwest, covering Greater Manchester and Lancashire. The property will house vulnerable women who are currently homeless, providing them with a safe and supportive environment. Both Blueprint and Ready4Home view this project as a stepping stone towards future collaborations, aiming to further support the reduction of homelessness in the region.
Paula White, CEO of Ready4Home, commented: “This collaboration with Blueprint is a significant step forward in our mission to support vulnerable individuals. It's exciting to see such innovative features that will keep running costs low, directly benefiting those we serve. The anti-mould design aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing not just housing, but homes that promote well-being. We're looking forward to working with Blueprint on future projects, helping many more people in need across our region.”
As a values-driven organisation, Blueprint is committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in supported housing. Addressing the critical issue of mould in social housing, which has been brought to the forefront by Awaab's Law, is a key focus for this project. The guarantee that the property will remain mould-free not only supports the tenants' well-being but also aligns with Ready4Home's commitments in respect of Awaab's Law.
