Lancashire care home resident spends day at the track
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
We decided to take Jim to a track day over in Wigan. Bike wars it was called and all these very nice bikes kept rolling up. The more that passed, revving their engines over and over. Well Jim's face was a picture with instant delight and they hadn't even started racing at that point. We sat for a coffee before the racing started, well Jim wouldn't lol, he just had story after story to tell us about his biking days. Back in the late 50s Jim was sponsored to ride the Isle Man TT races in which he was in first place by quite a stretch at one point. His motorcycle ran out of fuel on the last stretch of the course and he had to run with his motorcycle. He still places 7th out of all them racers. What a fantastic story and what a way to finish. This is a story Jim loves to tell along with many, many more. Jim it was our pleasure to give you such a fantastic afternoon out. We even bumped into a few chaps at the track that knew Jim. He'd repaired and sold them bikes in the past.
