UPDATE: Chinese restaurant reopens days after '˜tenancy terminated'

The Chinese Buffet in Friargate, Preston, reopened on Saturday afternoon days after legal notices were put on the building saying the tenancy had been terminated.

The three-storey Preston site is one of 10 operated by the popular buffet chain, which has its headquarters in Bolton.

On Saturday, a manager at the site, who would not be named, said: “Everything is back to normal. We have been closed but I don’t know the full story.

“We were closed since Tuesday. Staff have been a little bit worried but we are back to work and I’m hopeful for the future.

“The restaurant is very busy and we are trying to do the best for the people of Preston.”

The restaurant was the fifth to join the group and has been a favourite with the city’s huge university population since opening in 2012.

The restaurant is located in a prime position at the Friargate entrance to the St George’s Shopping Centre.

A message on the Chinese Buffet’s website earlier in the week said: “Our Preston branch is closed today due to unforeseen circumstances

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will keep you updated with more information soon.”

A notice on the building said owner IRAF UK Dragon Nominee 1 Ltd and IRAF UK Dragon Nominee 2 Ltd have entered the premises and the tenancy at will granted to 105 (Preston) Ltd has been terminated.

It said inquiries were being referred to Munroe K Asset Management Ltd of London.

No-one was available to comment at the asset management company.
