Top international accolade for Mad Science Lancashire franchise
Mad Science North West, a regional franchise of one of the world's leading science and education providers, has been named its Worldwide Franchise of the Year.
The announcement was made at the Mad Science International Conference in Montreal.
The Lancashire-based business outperformed 165 other Mad Science franchises across 25 countries to claim the prestigious award for the second time in four years.
Mad Science launched 10 years ago in Preston.
It is now a lead location for the fun science brand, providing business development support to franchises in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
Since start-up in 2006, the company has grown to employ over 70 staff across the north west and reaches over 170,000 children each year with its unique brand of fun and inspiring science events.
President of Mad Science Group, Shafik Mina, praised the local business’s achievements: “The Franchise of the Year Award is given to the franchise that is not only successful in business but is innovative, creative and contributes to the franchise system as a whole.
“To be awarded this twice in 10 years is a real achievement.”
Managing director Caroline Chesworth’s team delivers unique science-themed programmes and events to children and young people across the north west.
She said: “I’m incredibly proud to win this award, which reflects the hard work and dedication of our team to have grown and developed our business to such an extent that we have become leaders in our field. Our mission is to inspire future scientists on a scale that will make a difference and we feel we are getting there.”
Mad Science North West provides unique, hands-on science experiences to primary and secondary school children at in-school workshops, assemblies, afterschool and holiday clubs, birthday parties and corporate events.
This award follows previous successes in winning the Be Inspired Business Awards Business Woman of The Year and the Red Rose Awards Commitment to Skills accolade amongst others.
