Preston toy shop The Entertainer announces imminent closure after 10 years at St George's Shopping Centre
A Preston toy shop will close after the weekend due to the store not being “commercially viable”.
The Entertainer says the branch at St George’s Shopping Centre will close its doors permanently on January 5.

A spokesperson at The Entertainer said: “It’s with considerable regret that we’ve concluded that it’s not commercially viable to renew the lease for our Preston store at St George’s Centre, and we are particularly upset at the impact this has on our colleagues, who have run the store brilliantly.
“Sadly, it is a fact of retail life that shops sometimes have to close, as shopping patterns shift and cost growth outstrips sales increases.
“We remain committed to serving the people of Preston with our online toyshop, or through our successful toy concessions in selected local Tesco stores, including Penwortham Superstore, Preston or Leyland Extra. Our toys are also available in Matalan.”
The Entertainer opened the 2,600 square foot unit on the Friargate side of the shopping centre in November 2015, creating nine jobs.
