Preston Popworld shuts down as Stonegate Group confirms plans to open 'brand-new' nightspot in city centre
“A new era begins soon...” as Popworld becomes Bamboogy...
Preston’s Popworld has closed permanently, with owners Stonehouse Group leasing the popular Church Street nightspot to an independent operator.
The new club, named Bamboogy, is expected to open next month.
Popworld closed for good on Sunday (April 12), with management teasing on social media that its doors would soon reopen as a ‘brand-new’ venue.

A spokesperson for Stonegate said: “Popworld Preston remains part of Stonegate Group and has transitioned from a managed venue to our leased and tenanted division. This means the venue will now be operated by independent publicans.
“The site is currently closed for refurbishment and will reopen under a new name, Bamboogy.
“This is a late-night concept created by publicans Paul Stray and David Brown, and it will be their second venue under this brand.
“At present, the venue is expected to reopen mid-May, although this is still to be confirmed.”
Popworld opened in Preston in 2013, replacing the former Reflex nightclub in Church Street, and was renovated in 2018.

Popworld bids farewell to Preston
A spokesperson for Popworld Preston said: “Preston’s Popworld has closed its doors as the city centre nightspot plans to rebrand.
“After many incredible years, we’re closing our doors for a short while.
“Popworld Preston has been more than just a bar – it’s been a place where we’ve celebrated the small moments and the big occasions together.
“From birthdays and after-work drinks to first dates and unforgettable nights, we’ve shared so many special memories.
“We want to say a heartfelt thank you to our guests and the local community for your loyal support.
“While it’s farewell from our current team and the end of Popworld’s chapter, a new era begins soon.
“After a brief closure, the venue will reopen under new management with a brand-new offer, continuing to serve the community for many more years to come.
“The new team look forward to welcoming you back very soon.”
