"Hi Tony, we can probably fit you in sometime next week. Call us on 01772655552 or drop us a line on Messenger," teased Kersey Hairdressing on Facebook.

Blair, 67, shocked viewers when he appeared on ITV news on Tuesday (April 27) sporting a long, flowing mullet-style hairdo, prompting the Grimsargh salon to jest about his need for a trim.

Speaking to the Post, salon owner John Kersey said: "After a tough year here and everywhere thanks to Covid, it's nice to have something to smile about.

"While the offer was tongue-in-cheek, if Tony Blair does want to make an appointment to get his lockdown locks tidied-up, we'd be more than happy to accommodate him for a trim."

If Tony does pop down to John's salon in Preston Road, he'd be one of more than 540 people to have had their hair cut at the busy Grimsargh salon since lockdown restrictions were lifted on April 12.

John said: "It's been very busy - we've serviced over 540 appointments since April 12, with the team working flat-out and racking-up more than 336 hours between them.

"There was obviously a lot of pent-up demand thanks to lockdown. But I'm sure we can try and fit Tony in if he's desperate."
