Preston food trailer business asks council for permission to stay put

The business needs the nod from the city authority.

The operator of a hot food trailer who set up shop in a Preston car park has made a bid for the planning permission he needs to continue running the outlet.

‘Jay Jay’s Tasty Snacks’ – is stationed in a car park in Kent Street, close to the junction with Great George Street, in Deepdale.

A retrospective application has now been lodged with Preston City Council seeking approval for the facility.

Although documentation submitted to town hall planners does not indicate how long the business has already been trading from the site, images from Google Street View show that it was in situ in April this year.

The vehicle – which is advertised as selling burgers, hot dogs and curry – takes up two spaces in the private car park in an area dominated by commercial and industrial units.

Mohammed Zadran has requested permission to serve customers from 8am until 4pm seven days a week. He stresses that the vehicle does not require any permanent fittings and so could be considered “temporary”.

The application form states that waste from the site will be “stored securely in sealed bins” before being removed at the business’s own expense, so that “no public collection is needed”.
