The workshop aims to give you the chance to learn more about how the latest computing systems could give your business a boost, as well as highlighting how companies based in the north-west could be eligible for a cash injection.

“This event is a chance for firms to reflect on what they do and recharge that by doing it differently, with some help and advice on how to make their businesses more effective for the 21st century,” explains Gary McKnight, business development manager at DCS Solutions, which is running the event.

“It is about getting small and medium-sized enterprises out of their daily working routines and thinking about how they are doing things, and how they might run more efficiently by finding the right technological solution.

“We know that there are a lot of companies out there that are growing and want the right support, so we are here to offer them that guidance.”

The free session, at the Marriott Hotel, Garstang Road, Broughton, takes place on Thursday, 5 September, from 8.30am until 12.30pm.

DCS Solutions are a leading IT and business solutions provider, dedicated to helping the UK’s independent firms grow their business and unify their processes and operations, from accounting and payroll services to data management.

“Many small businesses have never had any training or advice on their software solutions, and many buy solutions thinking it will help save their company money, but this does not end up being the case. This event is a chance for businesses to understand the systems they have got, share the pains or challenges this is causing them and get some help and guidance for future growth and opportunities they may not be able to benefit from because of their current processes,” adds Gary.

“We refer to it as ‘Beyond Sage 50’: it’s about joining systems together to keep pace with the digital age, whether that means document management or the latest version of their accounting system; we can help them utilise what they have already got and expand their knowledge.

“We have 30 years’ experience in helping businesses become better so we want business owners to come to us and share the challenges they’re facing, and find out what help is at hand.”

As well as experts from DCS, the session will include talks from leaders at Sage, Sicon and Draycir on topics like improving business efficiency around transactions, achieving a more connected workplace and electronic document recognition and archiving.

It could also be the chance to find out more about funding available through initiatives such as Made Smarter and Northern Powerhouse to see whether your company would be eligible. The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund has already directly invested £100m into hundreds of Northern-based small and mid-sized enterprises: funding is available for firms with ten to 200 employees and a turnover of up to £25m with options including microfinance solutions between £25k and £100k, debt finance between £100k and £750k, or equity finance up to £2m
