Perrys in Leyland ceased trading at the weekend and its fleet of used cars were seen being transported away on Monday (June 15).

The dealership in Preston Road, near Leyland train station, had briefly reopened on June 4 after being forced to close for 10 weeks due to lockdown.

But just 10 days later, the dealership closed its doors for good, with staff offered jobs at its other Lancashire sites in Preston, Blackburn, Nelson and Burnley.

Some customers who had service plans with Perrys said they had received emails confirming the closure.

A sign posted outside the dealership redirects customers to its online showroom.

A spokesman for Perrys said: "The dealership was part of a Vauxhall network reorganisation last year when the franchise services were moved to our brand-new facility in Preston which covers the area of Leyland.

"All the staff were offered employment at our other dealerships in Lancashire which remain open.

"We have informed our valued customers of these changes and that their nearest dealership for servicing, repairs, MOTs and new and used car sales have moved to Preston. They are also welcome to visit us at any of our other locations."
