New Preston shisha lounge will need 'high-level odour control'
Plans have been unveiled to open a shisha lounge behind a restaurant in Preston.
If given the green light, the venue will be built to the rear of the Olive of Sinai eatery on Ribbleton Lane.
Shisha, or flavoured tobacco, is usually smoked amongst groups of people as a way of socialising and the proposed lounge would accommodate up to 36 people.

According to an application lodged with Preston City Council, the single-storey premises would operate as a “complementary but separate leisure facility to the restaurant, providing a managed and regulated indoor environment”.
A specialist assessment accompanying the blueprint - and carried out on behalf of the applicant - concluded that a “high level of odour control is required” in order to eliminate any potential adverse impacts on neighbouring premises in what is a largely commercial area.
That will require the inclusion of an ‘activated carbon filter unit’ within the extraction system to be installed at the site.
The new lounge would occupy a plot where a garage build currently stands, covering the same footprint - and would have its own entrance and exit via Terrace Street to ensure “customer flow is managed separately from the restaurant”.
