A new chapter in Lancaster’s business and community landscape is beginning as Horizons Homecare officially opens its latest branch at 44 to 48 North Road, the former home of the much loved Simply Baby store.

After supporting local families for more than 20 years, the iconic building is now welcoming another family focused service that aims to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people across Lancaster, Morecambe and surrounding areas.

Horizons Homecare is inviting local residents, business owners and health and social care professionals to join them for a Grand Opening and Networking Event that promises a positive start to 2026. The evening will focus on building new connections, celebrating local enterprise and introducing the organisation’s approach to high quality homecare.

A Meaningful Location with a Strong Local Legacy

The Simply Baby building has long been a familiar and trusted part of Lancaster’s city centre. Known for supporting parents and children for more around two decades, it represents warmth, care and community spirit. Horizons Homecare has chosen this location with purpose, recognising the building’s history and aiming to honour its legacy by continuing to serve local families.

“We feel privileged to move into a building that holds so many memories for local people,” says Russell Crossley, Managing Director of Horizons Homecare. “Our goal is to bring that same sense of trust, kindness and reliability to adults who wish to remain independent in their own homes. On a separate and joyful note, Julie Shaw who was the owner of Simply Baby and now a Director for Lancaster BID has accepted our offer to officially cut the ribbon and declare the new branch open.”

A Community Event Designed to Connect Local Professionals

The Grand Opening and Networking Event will be held on 15 January 2026 from 5.00pm, featuring complimentary fizz and nibbles, welcome speeches and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The evening has been designed not only to introduce Horizons Homecare to the area, but also to bring Lancaster’s professional community together. Local businesses are invited to bring business cards, flyers and leaflets so attendees can discover new services, share expertise and spark future collaboration.

“We believe strong care begins with strong community partnerships. This event is an opportunity for us to learn about the work of local organisations and to show how we can support each other moving forward,” adds Mr Crossley.

Supporting Families with Relationship Based Homecare

Horizons Homecare is expanding into Lancaster in response to a growing need for dependable, relationship centred homecare. The service focuses on consistency, unrushed visits and a values led approach that puts kindness at the centre of every interaction.

The Lancaster branch will provide domiciliary care, companionship, medication support, complex care, daily living assistance and completely bespoke care planning. Each visit is designed to support independence, dignity and quality of life for adults who wish to remain in their own homes.

“Families want reliability, clarity and genuine compassion. That is what we bring to every part of our service,” says Mr Crossley.

An Exciting Start to 2026

Horizons Homecare hopes the event will mark the beginning of long-term collaboration with local charities, community groups, businesses and professionals.

“We want to be a positive and active part of Lancaster. This branch is not just about care. It is about joining a community, supporting local people and building strong relationships that benefit everyone,” concludes Mr Crossley.
