Plans have been submitted for the two-storey building on a disused site opposite B&Q.

The land is at the back of the former Parkers Arms pub which closed down some time ago and is now a derelict building.

The site is seen as a gateway into the town for those travelling along the A6 Preston Road and one of the first impressions they get of the area.

There have been calls down the years for the area to be tidied up or redeveloped.

This new application from Coppull-based brothers Russell and Lionel Morris is seeking permission for the construction of a two-storey apartment block containing four two bedroom apartments, including on site parking.

The builders have submitted plans to Chorley Council.

"Me and my brother have quite a bit of property throughout Chorley," said Russell.

"It (the new apartments) will either be rented or for sale - it will probably go up for sale at first.

"It's across from B&Q. We've had it (the site) for a long time."

Should planning permission be granted, it is expected building work will start early next year.

"In about six months time," said Russsell.

"They'll be nice modern apartments."
