Lancashire’s Party Fettlers thrilled to be named best wedding band

The Party Fettlers, a band with deep roots in Lancashire and a reputation for unforgettable performances, have been named Best Wedding Band in the North West at The Wedding Industry Awards.

Their win is the high point of a journey spanning more than a decade, from school friends making music together to a band that almost called it quits before reigniting their passion.

The band’s story began at St Augustine’s in Billington, Lancashire, where lead singer Chris Scott and keys player Jamie Turner first met at school in 2002 when they were both just 11-years-old. Later, at St Mary’s College in Blackburn, Jamie overheard Chris singing karaoke at a party and they decided to team up with drummer Elliot Chapman, turning their shared passion for music into a long-lasting partnership.

By 2013, the trio had expanded into a full band, then known as The Misfits, and began performing at weddings, quickly gaining a reputation for their energetic sets and ability to connect with audiences of all ages.

But their path hasn’t been without challenges. A few years ago, life started pulling them in different directions. With growing family commitments and other priorities, the band questioned whether their time had come to an end. Then the pandemic hit, forcing them into an extended break that made them realise what they would be giving up.

“We thought we might call it a day”, recalls Jamie Turner. “It felt like there were other priorities, and the lads were starting their families. But then Covid hit, and it made us realise how much playing music together and performing meant to us all.

“Now we’re in our 30s, and it’s our release.”

That shared realisation reignited their passion, bringing the band closer than ever. In 2022, they rebranded as The Party Fettlers, embracing their East Lancashire identity and a clear vision for their performances. With Will Rogers on guitar, Arthur Phillips on saxophone, and Aaron Schofield on bass joining the founding trio, the band continued to grow, delivering high quality performances that blend soul, rock, and pop hits, with a particular focus on forgotten classics from the 90s and noughties.

Winning Best Wedding Band in the North West feels like a fitting reward for their determination and passion.

Jamie said: “Winning this award is a huge moment for us. It’s recognition for everything we’ve worked towards over the years and a reminder of why we do what we do. We’re so grateful to the couples who trust us to be part of their big day.”

For lead singer Chris Scott, the award highlights what makes The Party Fettlers so special: “Our goal has always been to create a party atmosphere that everyone can enjoy. We’ve spent years building a set we’re proud of, but it’s not just about the music – it’s about being together as a band and making sure every audience has the best time.”

From a group of friends experimenting at school to becoming the North West’s best wedding band, The Party Fettlers have proven that passion and perseverance can overcome even the toughest challenges. This award is not just a celebration of their talent, but of their connection as a band and their dedication to making every event unforgettable.
