Restaurant owners to leave The Puddled Duck on Sunset Park Holiday Village in Hambleton
The owners of a popular cafe restaurant and sports bar on a Hambleton holiday park will step away from the business after eight years.
Katie and Emmett Logan said “it’s time for a change” as they announced they will be leaving The Puddled Duck on Sunset Park Holiday Village in Sower Carr Lane in January.
The pair took over the venue in Over Wyre in 2018 and said the decision to step away was “one of the hardest choices we’ve ever had to make”.
They said “rising costs” and “the challenges of running a small business”, in addition to long days and late nights at the restaurant, had found them struggling to find quality time to spend with their two young children.
Katie and Emmett said their last day will be January 31, but a new owner is being sought to take over and keep the restaurant open.
Announcing the news on Facebook, owners Katie and Emmett said: “To our lovely Puddled Duck family — we’ve got some bittersweet news to share. After eight wonderful years, we’ve decided it’s time for a change!
“After eight incredible years at The Puddled Duck, we’ve made the decision to step away. It’s honestly one of the hardest choices we’ve ever had to make — this place has been such a huge part of our lives, and we’re so proud of what we’ve built here with all of you.
“We’ve poured our hearts into it — the long days, late nights, events, laughs and friendships have meant the world to us. But over time, it’s become harder to keep it all going while spending so little time with our young family.
“Rising costs and the challenges of running a small business have only added to that strain, making it tough to find the right balance.
“To our amazing team — past and present — thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything. And to all of you — our wonderful customers and friends — thank you for your support, love, and laughter over the years. We’ve made memories that will stay with us forever.
“We’re excited (and a little nervous!) to see what comes next, but The Puddled Duck will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
“Our last day will be January 31 and we are hoping that a new owner will take over and keep it open for you!
