The deadline is fast approaching for folk to have their say on exciting new £25m development proposals for Leyland.

The Leyland Town Board wants to hear the views of residents and businesses - and the last day to do so is this Sunday.

The Towns Fund is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Leyland to receive £25 million to invest in current and new buildings to create a ‘new heart’ for

Leyland.

The consultation is open until Sunday and a link to the virtual consultation exhibition and questionnaire can be found at https://vpc.tetratecheurope.com/towndeal/leyland/

The online exhibition in the virtual presentation gives an excellent overview of the proposals that have been developed by The Leyland Board and we are now looking for your help to

finalise the details.

The Leyland Board is made up of local businesses and stakeholders supported by South Ribble Council to improve Leyland as a place to live, work and enjoy leisure time.

The proposals are around three project areas:

Leyland town centre improvements.

Leyland Market improvements.

The BASE2 – a business hub development for business for workspace, events and skills.

A display of the proposals opened in Leyland Market,is available Friday and, Saturday, if anyone wants to view the proposals and complete a questionnaire in person.

Jennifer Gadsdon of Birchall Blackburn Ltd, The Leyland Board Chair said: “Leyland has been offered the opportunity by Government to bid for investment as part of the £3.6 billion

Towns Fund.

"The Leyland Board has developed draft investment proposals to address the town’s economic growth prospects with a focus on improved transport, digital connectivity, skills, enterprise and culture.

"The Board is seeking views on the draft investment plan and we hope you will take a few minutes to have a look at the plans and let us have your views.”

Councillor Paul, Foster South Ribble Council Leader and The Leyland Board member said: “I encourage everyone to take a look at the Leyland Town Board proposals and share their views.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future development of Leyland offering a long-term future for the town centre.

"The development proposals show the Board’s support for local businesses, confidence in Leyland and promote the importance of encouraging people to shop local to support the local economy.”

The responses and ideas from the consultation will help inform the development of the plans which will form the basis of a funding bid to government in October.
