New campaign celebrates the best of Penwortham
Designed to celebrate the efforts of local businesses during a difficult year, the awards are also a way of keeping businesses connected with the communities they serve.
The awards consist of 10 categories, with one for every type and size of bricks-and-mortar business in the town.
Businesses will be expected to enter themselves in the category of their choosing, with residents then voting for their favourites.
The organisers hope to announce the winners before Christmas.
Jenna Whittingham runs Beauty and The Hair Boutique on Liverpool Road in Penwortham.
She said: “Penwortham is such a lovely place, and we’ve just had all these new businesses open on the high street. These awards will really help businesses because I think they’ll reward them for their hard work and they’ll get a bit of appreciation, and it’s something a bit different.
“I think it’s absolutely fantastic.”
Her views are echoed by Vicky Foster who runs Studio 28, a hairdressing salon also on Liverpool Road.
She added: “This year has been really tough thanks to Covid, and the latest lockdown announcement makes it all worse.
"The Best of Penwortham Awards will give us all a great opportunity to stay in touch with local residents, have some fun and give us all something to look forward to as well.”
Lee Petts, local resident and managing director of PR and marketing agency 52M, is behind the Enjoy Penwortham campaign and the new awards.
He said: “These new awards are a chance for residents to recognise and reward the achievements of these businesses that make the town such a fantastic place to live.”
