Lockdown in pictures: Preston's shopping centres eerily quiet as some businesses forced to close

Just a week after reports of huge delays getting off a packed car park at Preston's Deepdale Centre, these pictures show the impact of lockdown on the city.

The photos taken on Saturday (November 7) show the retail centre almost empty as many shops are now closed due to the new lockdown, which came into effect on Thursday.

The announcement the weekend before had prompted a rush of shoppers trying to make the most of the last few days before the latest set of restrictions came into force.

But just a week later - and despite essential retailers being allowed to remain open - many of Preston' s shopping areas are looking noticeably quieter as residents appear to be sticking to the new rules.
