The Talbot in Euxton is using the month-long closure to set up as a food drop-off point.

Working in partnership with the charity, LW Storehouse at the Living Waters Church, Bolton Street, Chorley, the pub is accepting food donations as well as Christmas gifts and selection boxes that will be distributed by the charity to those most in need in the community.

The drop off point is run out of a giant inflatable tent in the car park and is open seven days a week for three hours each day (Monday-Friday 4pm-7pm and Saturda-/Sunday 10am–1pm) when people can take along items.

Individuals can drive into the car park and park up so the volunteers can take the donated goods from the boot of their cars and place them on the correct tables inside the tent.

Individuals will be given a raffle ticket for each bag of items donated which will be entered into a prize draw, giving them a chance to win a variety of great prizes donated from local businesses around Euxton and Chorley.

The draw will be held once the Balshaw Lane pub is able to reopen.

Chris Tulloch, managing director of Blind Tiger Inns which runs the Talbot, said: “The Talbot is an important place in the community and while we can’t be open doing what we

normally do; we think it is a great idea to use this time to continue to serve our community in whatever way we can.

"With many families and individuals struggling more than ever this year, it would be great if people picked up a couple of extra items during their trip to the supermarket and dropped these off on their way home.

"We are also still looking for local businesses to donate prizes which would really help so if you are able to contribute in this way, please contact myself or the pub

by phone or social media.”

LW Storehouse has been in existence for nine years and is run by volunteers mainly from the Living Waters Church in Chorley.

They provide food parcels to families referred to them from Chorley Council, Help the Homeless, Lancashire Mind, Citizens Advice and Children’s Social Care.

While all food items are important, they already have lots of tinned beans and soups and are currently short of Fray Bentos pies, coffee, tinned ham, tinned salmon, chocolate, sweet treats and toiletry items such as deodorant, shower gel etc.
