Burger King is staying tight-lipped about plans for a new restaurant in Leyland.
The drive-thru on the Tesco Extra car park was approved by South Ribble Borough Council last October, but plans appear to have stalled.

The fast-food outlet was to be built in the south western corner of the car park, close to Leyland Leisure Centre. But the plans have reportedly been shelved, despite full planning permission being granted seven months ago.
Burger King was approached for an update, but the American fast food chain declined to shed light on its plans for the new drive-thru.
“Burger King UK will not be commenting at this time,” a spokesperson told the Post.

What were the plans?
The restaurant was to accommodate between 50 and 60 people inside, with space for around another dozen customers in an outside seating area.
The scheme would have led to the loss of 110 parking spaces for Tesco, but South Ribble Borough Council’s planning committee was told the development area is “underused” compared to the rest of the car park.

The branch was expected to employ around 35 people and was to operate between 8am and 11pm, seven days a week.
The nearest Burger King to Leyland is currently the drive-thru at South Rings Business Park off the A6 in Bamber Bridge, near Sainsbury’s and B&Q.
