Blackpool Airport set to welcome new helicopter firm and jobs

Belgium-based NHV Group is to add its offshore flight services to the existing flights at the Squires Gate aerodrome.
It has signed a long-term contract with Spirit Energy to provide passenger transfer services in support of its East Irish Sea operations.

Hide AdNHV’s team will fly an AW169 helicopter to support the service.


The AW169 is a latest-generation 4.8 tonnes twin-turbine helicopter, with versatile capability for the most demanding operating conditions.
NHV already gained experience with the helicopter type in Norway, where it operates it in support of the Norwegian Coastal Agency’s operations since 2017.

The company is currently advertising for a captain and co-pilot for the helicopter plus licensed engineer, a passenger handling co-ordinator and a storekeeper.

Hide AdNHV will be based with the existing Babcock helicopter terminal off Squires Gate Lane.
NHV Group, headquartered in Ostend Belgium, is specialized in business to business helicopter services mainly in Europe and Western Africa and mainly to energy companies.
It employs around 550 and also carries out Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, Maritime Services, which include Search and Rescue, offshore Wind Farms and Harbour Pilot Services.
Spirit Energy, founded in 2017 by Centrica and Bayerngas Norge AS, has the gas extraction platforms in Morecambe Bay.
