Bamber Bridge Post Office shuts after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

Bamber Bridge Post Office has closed temporarily after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Management said the Post Office has been left short-staffed due to two other colleagues having to self-isolate.

The Post Office will remain closed until Monday, March 8.

It is the first time the branch has had to shut during the pandemic, but management said it was unavoidable due to reduced staff numbers.

Management said: "Due to a Covid casualty at Bamber Bridge Post Office and because two other members of staff have to follow guidelines and self isolate, we have taken the difficult decision to close until Monday, March 8.

"I hope you all understand that during this last year we have done our upmost to remain open. Unfortunately, it is impossible to run the branch single handed.

"For anyone who has parcels to collect, they will have to remain there until Monday.

"For anyone who posted mail after the last pick up yesterday, it left the branch at 12 noon today (Tuesday, March 2).

"I know that for some of you the Post Office is a vital service that you need to access and I can only apologise unreservedly for having to close.

"Thanks to everyone for your continued support and I am very sorry for the inconvenience."
