Bamber Bridge firm completes £3m county road refurbishment

Work to strengthen the 2km stretch began in November and continued with heightened safety measures in place during the recent lockdown period.

The project team has been delivering improvements to the critical infrastructure of the road, undertaking a full resurfacing as well as installing street lighting, kerbs, drains, safety barriers and timber fencing during the final phases of the work.

"It has been a real team effort to ensure we could continue safely with the programme of works to ensure this important route into the town was ready for the summer season. I’d like to thank each and every person who has helped us reach this milestone.”

Eric Wright Civil Engineering is undertaking road improvements on the A57 in Manchester, has recently installed the replacement Pooley Bridge in Cumbria, is enhancing flood defences in Rotherham, and in Chester the team is also undertaking a programme to restore the City’s famous Northgate Steps on the City Walls.

Councillor Jim Hobson, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Climate Change with responsibility for highways said: “It is a credit to everyone who has been involved with this project that they have been able to complete the works on time with minimum delay. Yeadon Way is one of Blackpool’s main roads and it will now provide a better travel experience for local residents, as well as visitors when travel restrictions are lifted in the future and we are ready to welcome people back to enjoy our beautiful town.
