Unusual stories of street dogs
A tale of street dogs in Istanbul will be screened at The Dukes cinema during a new series of experimental features and rarely seen films.
Taskafa(12A) will be shown at the Lancaster venue on January 6 as part of Film Lab dedicated to screening artist-led films which are growing more popular thanks to the success of Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave and Clio Bernard’s The Selfish Giant.
Taskafa explores the role played by street dogs in Istanbul and their relationship with humans. The dogs’ own history and the city’s attempts to rid itself of them, speak of a wider story of memory.
