Two St Patrick’s Day nights – no silly hats

It will begin on Friday, with the venue’s regular Nu – Folk session, a 100% acoustic session in which anyone can join.

It’s free and it begins at 9pm.

Then, Saturday brings St Patrick’s Day to Korova a couple of days early.

Sam Buist, Artistic Director at Korova Arts Cafe & Bar, said: “Don’t worry, there’ll be NO outsize Guinness hats or green dye in the lager.

“Instead, we’ll be celebrating all things Irish with poetry, magic, and a standout performance from Preston’s own Firkin Fiddler, playing with his band.”

Expect energetic Irish folk classics to sing along and dance to.

Nu Folk Sessions is free, starting at 8pm, on March 14.

The Firkin Fiddler will be performing at 9pm on March 15, and the event is also free.

Meanwhile, the New Continental on South Meadow Lane is hosting an evening of Irish traditional music on St Patrick’s Eve in its Snug.

The evening, at 7.30pm on Sunday, March 16, takes the form of an informal acoustic session of classic Irish Traditional Music, played on uilleann pipes, harp, fiddle, banjo and more.

It’ll be hosted by Tom Walsh and Hugh O’Donnell and is free to enter.
