Ex-EMF frontman James Atkin – famous the world over for his vocals on the band’s signature track ‘Unbelievable’ – will perform with his new band alongside some of the region’s underground musical talent at the one day and night event on Saturday April 4.

Also on the bill are Charlie Parker Tribute, Sir Gideon Vale and Lionel Spume, Greenheart, Mobius Loop, Emma and the Professor, Miniking, Dohnut, Get Carter and Baksheesh.

The event takes place during the day on Shabby Meadow, and then continues into the night inside Glasson Dock Village Hall.

Mandy Blackwell, one of the organisers, said: “This is the most exciting line-up that Dock of the Bay has ever had and we are delighted to have so many talented musicians and bands taking to our stage this year.

“We fully expect to sell out on the night as so many people have said they would like to come and see the bands.

“If anyone would like more information on times that certain acts are on then please like our Facebook page.”

The event has been described by organisers as “the North West’s smallest festival”.

James Atkin, frontman with 90s dance/indie band EMF (Epsom Mad Funkers), who had a number one hit in the US and hit number three in the UK album charts in 1991 with their debut album Schubert Dip, now lives in Clapham and works as a teacher in Keighley.

He still works on music projects however and his new solo album A Country Mile came out on March 2.

The evening session at Dock of the Bay will feature Lancaster’s Baksheesh and Get Carter, Bentham-based Dohnut (formerly known as eating disorder), James Atkin and Keighley-based Captain Hotknives.

The suggested entry donation price for the evening is £5.
