One of the directors, Kriss Foster, said: “We wanted to use the space in a different way to remind people that museums are part of our present and future.

“With its maze of rooms, the museum also presented an interesting challenge and an exciting opportunity to design a promenade theatre experience.”

The Rest is History follows the story of a fictitious gift shop worker who’s left in charge of the museum when the tour guide is called away and features a host of other interesting characters played by a cast of 20, aged 14 and 15.

The show also includes live music written and performed by the cast, some of who have learned to play new instruments during the production process.
