Written by Lancashire lads Rick Guard and Phil Rice, the play will be staged at Lowther Pavilion on July 29, Clitheroe Grand on August 8 and Charter Theatre Preston on September 3.

Rick and Phil cut their teeth as performing musicians around the region and are now platinum-selling songwriters who have had hits around the world.

The musical is the subject of a TV documentary by Bafta and Emmy-winning filmmaker Chris Swann, whose credits include programmes on Pavarotti and Paul McCartney.

The piece will chart the progress of a fledgling musical’s journey and the rise of a musical duet some critics are already comparing to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

The musical is garnering industry support at every stage of its journey, and the Tony award-winning, West End lighting director Nick Richings, famous for his work on Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar and Starlight Express, has recently joined the production.

West End entertainment commentator JJ Brant said of the show: “It’s the best written new musical since Blood Brothers.
