The boy beyond the barbed wire
The play, an adaptation of John Boyne’s international bestseller, is produced by The Children’s Touring Partnership (TCTP) and at The Grand until Saturday.
Set during the Second World War, the story is seen through the eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and devastating consequences.

TCTP has previously toured Goodnight Mister Tom (which won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family) and Swallows and Amazons, which came to The Grand in 2012.
Grand Theatre CEO Ruth Eastwood said: “We are delighted to welcome back TCTP after their fantastic version of Swallows and Amazons.
“The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a hugely important book which appeals to young and old alike.
