Skinner shot to fame and critical acclaim in the early 1990s and was known for his acerbic, near-the-knuckle comedy.
He swiftly translated this into stunning commercial success along with fellow comic David Baddiel on Fantasy Football League, the BBC ratings hit which spawned spin off bestselling books, DVDs and, of course, the iconic chart-topping chant Three Lions.
In 2011 Frank revealed he was a practising Christian and accused atheists of threatening humanity. He went on to urge fellow believers to stand together against secularists.
