Korova Arts Café & Bar will be bringing a big chunk of Preston’s arts community together.

The venue will be staging an evening of live music, poetry and a documentary film to raise awareness.

This will include local Preston-based musicians Avital Raz, James Todd, ukulele player Kris Ball, poetry from Nick Williams, Guild-winning poet Lorna Smithers and facepaintng from Heather Atkins and Angela Dunne.

The night will also feature a 90-minute show from Ashton musician Sean Keefe – a mixture of theatre, comedy and maybe even magic, as he tells the story of how he attempted to do 40 thing before he was 40.

But will Noddy Holder call him is the big question to help him complete the list.

The night will also consist of the stories of individuals whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Korova owner Sam Buist said: “We wanted to develop people’s understanding of cancer, because I believe people who have cancer, talking about the illness is crucial, because awareness about cancer is one of the important aspects.

“We hope our stories will really move people and make them think. Some of the stories might quite suprise”.

The venue has also been delighted by the uptake in the artists, “we’ve been quite touched by how many artists have come forward to participate in the event. We hope we can build it into a bigger event each year”.

All money raised from the evening will go to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, along with 10% from bar takings.

Korova Against Cancer is at Korova Arts Cafe and Bar, and will run from 6pm until late.
