The enthusiastic Preston Youth Theatre cast gearing up for their first performance of The Wind in the Willows

The Friends of Avenham and Miller Parks present a promenade production of ‘The Wind in the Willows’ this weekend.

Join the talented cast of Preston Youth Theatre’s young actors from across the city as they journey down the river bank with Mole, Rat and Badger, chasing their excitable and lavish friend Toad across the countryside.

Watch out for the Weasels from the wild wood as they lurk in the shadows, ever watchful of the prime real-estate that is ‘Toad Hall’.

“We have gone all out this year with some really exciting sets, costumes and live music,” says Faith Lucas, who plays Mole.

“Its going to be a really  exciting show.”

Starting in the pavilion, the production will then move around the park to different locations using the very fabric of this beautiful Victorian park as a back drop to the story. The youth theatre is overjoyed that this production is being  financially supported through a grant from the Friends of Avenham and Miller Park.

“In the current climate the Youth Theatre is experiencing a huge loss of supportive funding which has threatened us with closure,” says Youth Theatre Director  Graham Easterlow.

“Therefore support from groups such as FOAM are vital in helping us to survive and support the development of youth arts for the city.”

The action begins at 1.30pm both tomorrow and on Sunday at the Pavilion in Avenham Park.

Some walking between scenes will be required and, as there will be no seating provided, please bring a  lightweight folding chair if you need one.
