The funny man in the fez died in 1984, collapsing from a heart attack live on television in front of millions during his act on variety show Live From Her Majesty’s.

Twenty nine years later, Damian Williams, examines one aspect of his remarkable career in a venue Cooper himself knew well. Set in Las Vegas in 1954 where, in a small hotel room, the up-and-coming Cooper faces the prospect of his first big failure. With the show closing and a warring relationship with his manager, he finds an offer on the table and a drink in his hand.

Tom Green’s play celebrates the brilliance in one of Britain’s most famous comics and explores the pressures and loneliness of fame, bringing the man who could make you laugh just by walking on stage back to life in this confrontational play.
