Hall brings up 80 with a year of highlights

A bumper line-up for 2015 has been scheduled at Marine Hall, Fleetwood.

It’s the venue’s 80th birthday next year and a jam- packed calendar of shows will make sure the anniversary goes with a swing.

From festivals to music, dance to panto , comedy to kids’ shows, there’s something for all to enjoy.

Highlights include the annual Fleetwood Beer and Cider Festival, Thursday to Saturday, February 5-7, with over 120 UK cask beers and cider, perrys and ale from around the world.

Comedy is back at Marine Hall with two Jongleurs comedy nights on June 26 and October 16.

Following another sell-out run at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival, Patrick Monahan will also be at the venue on Saturday, February 21, with his energetically witty and charming new family show Adventures in Monahan Land. Then BBC Radio 4’s Mark Steel’s in Town is coming to Fleetwood on Wednesday, March 18, with a show for locals based on what he finds out about the area on his visit.

Next up, after a critically acclaimed sell-out spring 2014 tour, the Grumpies are back to knock some sense into the nation with their new show Return of the Grumpy Old Women on Saturday, April 11.

Perrier Award-winning comedian, writer and original star of Grumpy Old Women Jenny Eclair will be joined by Susie Blake (Mrs Brown’s Boys, Coronation Street) and actress and singer Kate Robbins (Where The Heart Is, Casualty) in this brand spanking new show.

For kids, there’s two great shows coming up, with The Chuckle Brothers, below, brilliant new show Chuckles of Oz on Friday, May 29 and Basil Brush in his Full on Fox Tour on Friday, August 7.

Tickets are already selling fast so book early to guarantee your place, family tickets for these shows are available.

Plenty for music lovers too. The Billy Fury Years on Saturday, February 28 takes you on a musical journey through the musical career of Britain’s best loved rocker.

Back by popular demand, The Manfreds return to Marine Hall on Saturday, March 7 and The Searchers are back on Thursday, April 16.

If you love big band music, be sure to catch Five Star Swing on Friday, March 20. This unique feel-good big band show features Simone from the Ivy Benson Orchestra, and Chris Smith Jnr, composer and arranger for the BBC Radio Big Band. Come and swing along with songs from Glenn Miller, Sinatra, Basie and Ella Fitzgerald.

And local bands and musicians will have the chance to perform on stage and win a cash prize in the venue’s Battle of the Bands on Saturday March 28.
