Festival troupe brings the Scottish play to old Hall

Festival Players Theatre Company who are performing at Leighton Hall,Warton.

The troupe’s performance of dark and powerful tragedy Macbeth will take the audience on a roller-coaster ride from a ‘blasted heath’, through a Scottish Castle, to a moving Forest.

Performed by a traditional all-male cast, the two hour production will take place on Leighton’s garden which will be transformed into a Scottish Castle.

Leighton’s grounds will set the tone for the three witches, their bubbling cauldron and the prophecy that consumes an ambitious Macbeth.

Worcestershire-based director Michael Dyer said: “We perform more than 100 shows a year and love returning to Leighton Hall, as it is without a doubt, the perfect backdrop for one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays.”

Folk star, composer and poetry anthologist Johnny Coppin has written music especially for the performance.

Macbeth will take place rain or shine on the July 25 at 7:30pm. Leighton’s grounds will open at 6pm when visitors are invited to arrange their seating, cool boxes and champers, enjoy their own picnics and relax before Macbeth begins his greed-fuelled journey.

Visitors should bring their own seating and an extra layer of warm clothes.
