Comic Josie Long is back with new show Romance and Adventure
The show, about trying to keep going when you’re tired-out politically and personally, covers her exploits climbing a mountain, the pitfalls of turning 30, and her anger at the coalition government. Hide AdFor the first time since the city showcase was launched in October, events will run throughout the district, as well as in the city centre.
Young singers and bands from DT3, in Lancaster, and More Music, in Morecambe, perform for free in Market Square, at Rock The Square, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. From 6.30pm to 7.30pm, celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ludus Youth Dance Company with a free Youth Dance triple bill at Ludus Dance Studio, in King Street, showing work by a group of dancers aged 14 to 19. A free return bus will run from Lancaster to The Hothouse in Morecambe to the Stages Live gig, which runs from 7pm to 10.30pm. Rae Morris, the teenage Blackpool singer-songwriter signed to Atlantic Records, will headline the only UK gig on her European tour, supported by the district’s own Katy Pickles. Authentic Spanish flamenco music comes to Lancaster’s University Nuffield Theatre next Thursday night.

Hide AdCalaita is singer Chico Pere and flamenco guitarist Glenn Sharp, fronting a six-piece music group with dancer Gloria Lopez Castejon, and playing traditional flamenco and contemporary flamenco rumbas. Formed in 2008 as a music and dance group, Calaita has quickly developed a large fan-base. And they invite audiences to join them for an introduction to flamenco in a pre-concert talk. Billed as a “traditional pantomime”, the rags-to-riches tale of the runaway boy who becomes Lord Mayor of London, thanks to his clever cat, runs from Friday, December 6, until Friday, December 28.
