Forget knights, the pirates are heading to Lancaster Castle this half-term.

From Tuesday-Saturday, February 18-22, the castle will once again be invaded by teams of pirates showing you how to create a treasure map, how to make your very own pirate mask and even how to live and act like a pirate!

On the Wednesday the days of plundering will be brought to life with a kids’ activity tour. Youngsters aged five-12 (must be accompanied by an adult) will join a costumed guide on an exciting trip around the castle, take part in a mock trial and receive a free gift.

Youngsters can learn how to be a pirate on Tuesday and Thursday 2-3pm, with Wicked Workshops, which last year taught people how to be an Arctic explorer and a medieval knight.

Now they’re back to teach you some swashbuckling tricks like defending your ship against skeletons and giant squids. The workshop is £5 per child and suitable for ages four-12, (accompanied by an adult). Call 01524 848525 to book a place.

The pirate half term week concludes on Saturday, February 22 with a pirate-led treasure hunt around the castle grounds, and the chance to decorate your own pirate treasure chest.

After Dark Entertainment presents The Curse of the Pirates’ puzzle quest between 1-5pm when families can solve cluesto help free a cursed pirate crew.

The quest will last 60-90 minutess, and is £6 per child, £9 per adult or £26 for a family ticket.

Francesca Lewis, Lancaster Castle’s events manager, said: “It’s great for us to be able to offer something different for the kids to do on their holidays. There’s an activity available for everyone, from those who are creative and enjoy crafts, to those who want to let off some steam.”
