The award-winning Nogal Productions stage the much-loved Rogers and Hammerstein classic at the Preston venue from Wednesday to Saturday.

It’s more than 50 years since the story of the von Trapp family was first brought to the stage and later transformed into one of the most popular musical films of all time.

Young novice nun Maria finds herself governess to a family of seven children ruled with a rod of iron by their widowed father, and all caught up in war-torn Europe.

How she transforms their lives and the lives of all those around her has become a family favourite along with songs such as Edelweiss, Climb Every Mountain and The Lonely Goatherd.

Nogal’s production of Oliver at the Charter last year proved an outstanding success.

The production stars local actress Vicki Gallagher as Maria and radio presenter Tim Walford as Captain Von Trapp, above.

Mother Abbess is played by Una Bird and the show also features two talented teams of Von Trapp children.
