Although Lucy made her name on The X Factor, she won viewers’ hearts for being determinedly different.

Hotly tipped to win, she bowed out through illness.

Since then, however, her career has gone from strength to strength.

After being snapped up by Columbia Records earlier in the year, single Lighthouse proved to be a summer hit, and a new album follows in October.

Not your typical X Factor contestant, the quirky, genre-splicing Spraggan describes her music as ‘A-Flop’, a mixture of acoustic, folk and hip-hop, and has a career stretching back much further than her television debut.

Having tried her hand at a variety of jobs (fire-fighter, plumber’s apprentice, cave tour guide and even magician!), Lucy was already carving out a career for herself in the music world, with the independently released ‘Top Room At The Zoo’ album in November 2011, and a support slot alongside Razorlight in 2012. After narrowly missing the top spot in the ‘Live and Unsigned’ competition, and picking up almost half-a-million views for independently released single ‘Last Night’ on YouTube, Lucy was encouraged to take part in The X Factor, making it through the audition and bootcamp stages, shooting up the UK Top 40 with hit single ‘Last Night’ and getting a standing ovation for the self-penned ‘Tea and Toast’, a personal song about a relationship with an older woman which had Spraggan in tears.
