Spend a week in village history

Organised by the Burscough Heritage group, activities are centred on The Grove, near the station, where the car park will be full of life and noise from vintage vehicles and machinery displayed to a back drop of a vintage fairground organ.

Inside there will be displays of photos and artefacts and talks on the role Burscough played in the two world wars.

Leyland Model Railway Club will display its working models and the Canal and River Trust will give people the chance to build a length of canal.

The canal history of the village is not neglected with the return of the boat ‘Kennet’.

This is Kennet’s first return to Burscough since she was rededicated in 2012. She will be open for visitors, and a colourful gathering of canal boats will be moored around Burscough Wharf.

The Wharf itself will be alive with wood turners, music and a farrier, stalls and more.

Merseyside transport trust will even provide a free bus service between the wharf and the Grove in vintage buses.

The Burscough Heritage group is a not-for-profit organisation working to preserve and record the history of the village and surrounding areas for this and future generations.
