Sell off the past to save the future

First up on Sunday is a valuation event between 1 and 3pm.

The hall is working with the Lytham office of Capes Dunn Auctioneers, so why not have a look in your attic, the garden shed, or in those boxes you’ve moved from home to home?

The hope is that once professionally valued people will choose to enter their item into an auction at the hall later in the year, and gift part of sale proceeds to the building’s restoration fund.”

Christopher Coram of Capes Dunn said: “I hope that for such a worthy cause some interesting and valuable heirlooms will be brought along.”

Hall project manager Simon Thorpe said: “We’re delighted Capes Dunn has offered their services in aid of Lytham Hall.

“We hope as many people as possible will choose to enter their item into our auction.

“Entry at the Main Gate is £1 as usual on Sundays and we can’t wait to see what treasures you’ll bring.”

Then, the following Wednesday (April 16) a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the future of Lytham Hall – with a bit of history thrown in for good measure.

The day will see a variety of 20 minute talks in the Hall which you can attend for free.

Simon will be talking about the major restoration of the buildings being part funded by Heritage Lottery Fund; Alan Hulme, volunteer co-ordinator will explain the plans for restoring the parkland and gardens which is part-funded by Veolia and Lancashire Environment Fund.

Marianne Blaauboer, activity plan officer, will be relating some unusual aspects of the Clifton family history.

Talks will start on the hour at 11am, 1pm and 2pm.

Simon said: “We know the community is keen to know what is going on and when it is going to happen and we look forward to seeing as many as possible throughout the day.”

The Mayor of Fylde, Councillor Linda Nulty, will unveil a new ‘acquisition’ at 10.30am.
