Schools make sweet music

The pupils of schools in Preston and beyond take their places at the city’s Guild Hall tomorrow for the first day of the Music Festival for School.

Children, from more than 30 primary schools, will be taking part in the annual festival, a celebration of youthful musical talent in the city.

The three night event, which begins tonight and runs until Thursday, will see dancers, singers and young musicians taking to the big Guild Hall stage to show off their talents.

Many of the area’s school choirs and recorder groups will be taking part and their little members have been practising for weeks in the run up to their big moment.

The pupils prepared their individual contributions in their own schools, but came together for final intensive rehearsals in the run up to the event.
